COMPETENCES OF THE CENTER FOR SOCIAL WORK

• conducts the procedure of mediation in family relations (conciliation and settlement);
• submits the finding and expert opinion, at the request of the court, in litigations in which decisions are made on the protection of the rights of the child or on the exercise or deprivation of parental rights;
• submits, at the request of the court, an opinion on the expediency of the measure of protection against domestic violence requested by another authorized prosecutor;
• provides assistance in obtaining the necessary evidence to the court before which the proceedings for protection from domestic violence are being conducted;
• conducts the procedure of assessing the general suitability of foster parents, adoptive parents and guardians;
• performs inventory and assessment of the property of the person under guardianship;
• cooperates with the public prosecutor, ie the judge for juveniles in the selection and application of educational orders;
• conducts mediation between the juvenile perpetrator and the victim of the crime;
• submits a report on the fulfillment of the educational order to the public prosecutor, ie the juvenile judge;
• attends, upon the approval of the court, actions in the preparatory procedure against the juvenile perpetrator of the criminal offense (interrogation of the juvenile perpetrator of the criminal offense, interrogation of other persons), makes proposals and addresses questions to the persons being interrogated;
• submits an opinion to the court before which the criminal proceedings against the juvenile are conducted regarding the facts related to the age of the juvenile, the facts necessary for assessing his maturity, examines the environment in which and the circumstances under which the juvenile lives and other circumstances concerning his personality and behavior;
• attends the session of the juvenile panel and the main trial in criminal proceedings against a juvenile perpetrator of a criminal offense;
• informs the court competent for the execution of the institutional educational measure and the body of internal affairs when the execution of the measure cannot begin or continue due to the rejection or escape of the juvenile;
• takes care of the execution of educational measures of special obligations;
• checks the execution of the educational measure of intensified supervision by the parents, adoptive parents or guardians and provides them with assistance in the execution of the measure;
• checks the execution of the educational measure of intensified supervision in another family and indicates assistance to the family in which the minor is placed;
• implements the educational measure of intensified supervision by the guardianship authority by taking care of the education of the minor, his employment, separation from the environment that adversely affects him, the necessary treatment and arrangement of the conditions in which he lives;
• takes care of the execution of the educational measure of intensified supervision with the obligation of a daily stay in the institution for the upbringing and education of minors,
• submits to the court and the public prosecutor for juveniles a report on the course of execution of educational measures which are taken care of;
• proposes to the court to make a decision on the costs of execution of educational measures;
• performs other tasks determined by law.

Also, the center in the exercise of public authority provides social work services and initiates court proceedings when it is authorized to do so by law.
